Phlebotomist III
Job Description
Join the dynamic team at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center as a Phlebotomist III, where you will be responsible for greeting patients, performing blood draws, labeling and centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and updating patient information. You will collect and store specimens according to established procedures and explain the process of venipuncture or other specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner.
Your role will also involve demonstrating techniques using straight and butterfly needles, matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, and ensuring the correct labeling and packaging of specimens for transport.
Responsibilities
+ Greet patients and perform blood draws.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
+ Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
+ Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
+ Handle insurance, billing, and processing of samples.
+ Provide excellent customer service to patients.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in drawing blood and venipuncture.
+
Experience with phlebotomy and specimen collection.
+ Ability to provide excellent customer service.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Minimum of 1 year of experience in phlebotomy/venipuncture in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
+ High School Diploma or GED.

Work Environment
The schedule offers a contract duration of 3 months, with potential extensions averaging 6-9 months, depending on business needs and performance. While there is a possibility for direct employment, it is contingent on business needs and performance during the contract period
Schedule M-F 1PM - 10:30PM, rotating every 3rd weekend.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.05/hr.
