Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations including abdominal, pelvic, small parts, vascular, and other specialized studies as credentialed.
- Position patients, explain procedures, and ensure comfort while maintaining infection control standards.
- Recognize and document normal and abnormal findings, adapting techniques to capture optimal diagnostic images.
- Collaborate with radiologists and referring providers to support accurate clinical interpretation.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure timely entry of imaging data into VA systems.
- Follow all VA, federal, and imaging department protocols, including radiation safety and quality assurance standards.
- Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
- Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and performing a full range of sonographic examinations.
- Ability to interpret medical data generated by patient/equipment interaction.
- Current BLS certification.
- Registration with ARDMS (AB, RVT or Echo preferred) or ARRT (Sonography) preferred
