Overview
This position joins Oregon Health Authority’s statewide Ameri Corps VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives orientation, training throughout the year, team meetings, and support from VISTA team leaders and the project director. Tillamook County Community Health Center (TCCHC) is grounded in its mission to promote and protect the health of all people in Tillamook County. TCCHC offers comprehensive health and integrated public health and environmental health services. This integration aims to eliminate barriers to health and provide holistic, quality care to residents of Tillamook County. Tillamook County Wellness is a program of TCCHC and is a locally led coalition of organizations working together to improve community health.
Tillamook County is a rural community located along the northern Oregon Coast from Pacific City to Manzanita, with many outdoor activities available, including hiking, fishing, crabbing, camping, and beaches.
We are seeking someone who:
- Is interested in community health and communications and supporting low-income communities
- Enjoys building collaborative partnerships and working in a team environment
- Preferably has some experience or interest in learning about website and social media management and communications
The OHA Ameri Corps VISTA Partnership Project is committed to building a prepared and capable workforce to strengthen our work in Oregon communities. We value applicants who can bring lived experience.
Member DutiesThe Ameri Corps member will improve community readiness to identify, respond to, and recover from environmental health and emergency hazards.
- Increase community engagement with preparedness activities and create information pathways for emergency responses
- Support efforts to transition people out of poverty by identifying, developing, and promoting low or no cost preparedness activities and access to services
- Work collaboratively with partners to identify education opportunities and build skills and resources to improve emergency preparedness and reduce environmental health hazards
Ameri Corps VISTA members serve Oregonians through indirect service and capacity building, meaning the work you will do is the behind-the-scenes work. You will have limited interaction with the community. Applicants should be independent, motivated, and have strong writing and intercultural communication skills.
