Position OverviewThe General Manager will serve as the primary leader responsible for all day-to-day operations of Village Pickle. This role combines hands-on management of the facility, pickleball programming, and guest experience with oversight of bar and event operations. The ideal candidate will excel at building and leading teams, driving revenue, maintaining high standards of hospitality, and fostering a warm, inclusive community vibe.
Reporting directly to ownership, the GM will lead a team that includes part-time bar staff and other support personnel.
Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily operations of the venue, including court scheduling, facility maintenance, cleanliness, and overall guest flow.
- Manage bar operations, inventory, liquor compliance, and health/safety standards.
- Coordinate food cart partnerships and ensure smooth integration with venue offerings.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures to deliver consistent, high-quality hospitality.
Programming and Community Engagement
- Design and execute pickleball programming, including drop-in sessions, leagues, tournaments, clinics, and social happy hour events.
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive community atmosphere for players and guests of all backgrounds.
- Build relationships with local players, groups, and businesses to drive repeat visitation.
Event Management
- Sell and coordinate private events, corporate bookings, parties, and group rentals.
- Partner with clients to customize experiences and ensure flawless event execution.
Team Management
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise staff, including part-time bar employees.
- Create a collaborative, service-focused team culture with emphasis on hospitality and guest satisfaction.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and leadership to support team success.
Financial and Business Management
- Monitor revenue, expenses, and profitability; manage budgets and control costs effectively.
- Implement strategies to maximize income through programming, memberships, events, and bar sales.
- Track key performance metrics and report regularly to ownership.
Guest Experience & Marketing Support
- Ensure consistently outstanding hospitality and handle guest concerns promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate on marketing efforts to attract new players, event clients, and community members.
Required
- Proven track record of strong general management experience in hospitality, food & beverage, entertainment venues, restaurants, or similar customer-facing businesses.
- Demonstrated success leading teams, managing day-to-day operations, and delivering high levels of guest satisfaction.
- Solid understanding of bar/restaurant operations, liquor compliance, inventory management, and health/safety regulations.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate staff and build a positive team culture.
- Genuine passion for creating welcoming, community-oriented hospitality experiences.
Preferred
- Experience managing event spaces or driving private/group bookings and revenue.
- Previous P&L responsibility or proven ability to grow revenue in a hospitality setting.
- Interest in pickleball or recreational sports (playing experience welcome but not required).
- Familiarity with sports facility or recreational venue operations a plus.
- Competitive salary: $70,000 – $75,000 base, plus annual bonus tied to business performance.
