Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Talent Manager, Employee Relations
Help build the operational backbone of HR in a complex, multi-state organization
Straub Collaborative is seeking an experienced, detail-driven HR Generalist to serve as the primary operational support within our Human Resources function. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, continuity, and compliance of core HR processes across a multi-state workforce.
You will partner closely with the Director of HR while owning day-to-day execution of payroll and benefits administration, recruitment coordination, onboarding/offboarding, HRIS transactions, records management, and unemployment claims.
This role is not entry-level and requires prior experience independently managing core HR operations.
This position is fully on-site in Portland, OR or New York City, NY. Relocation assistance is not provided. Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available.
What You’ll Do- HR Operations & Administration
- Administer payroll and benefits changes, audits, and issue resolution
- Execute HRIS transactions and maintain accurate employee data
- Serve as the primary point of contact for routine HR inquiries
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance and clean records
- Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage recruiting logistics from posting through offer
- Coordinate interviews and candidate communications
- Oversee onboarding documentation, orientation, and system setup
- Employee Lifecycle Management
- Coordinate offboarding and termination processes
- Maintain personnel records and HR documentation
- Support employee status changes and transitions
- Compliance & Claims
- Administer unemployment claims and responses
- Maintain documentation and tracking
- Ensure confidentiality and regulatory compliance
- Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of HR experience in a generalist or operational role
- Experience supporting complex multi-state work forces
- Strong knowledge of payroll, benefits, recruiting coordination, and HR operations
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to work independently within established processes
- Professional, calm, and collaborative communication style
- Preferred
- Experience with Paylocity or similar HRIS/ATS platforms
- Experience in production, creative, warehouse, or fast-paced environments
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR)
- Portland, OR: $70,000–$80,000 annually
- New York City: $84,000–$96,000 annually
- Actual compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and location.
