About the RoleOrganization is undergoing a major modernization of its data and reporting landscape, transitioning from legacy accounting systems to a modern Microsoft Fabric + Dynamics 365 + Practice Pro environment.
We are seeking a Data Engineer who can embed into the IT organization, partner closely with accounting, operational leaders, and the internal integration team, and become the primary data & analytics engineer for the firm.
This individual will own the Fabric data environment, help build new reporting capabilities, and eventually mentor internal team members as the analytics practice scales across Tax, Wealth Management, and Operations.
This role is ideal for someone who loves data modeling, business logic, and translating ambiguous requirements into clean, stable pipelines-while navigating a real-world environment with competing priorities, political nuances, and ongoing transformation.
Key ResponsibilitiesMicrosoft Fabric & Data Lakehouse Engineering
Manage and extend organizations Fabric-based lakehouse (Bronze → Gold architecture; no Silver layer today).
Build, refine, and optimize data models that power reporting for:
Accounting & Tax
Practice management
Sales & client management
Improve historical data hydration across Practice Engine → Practice Pro → Dynamics 365 sources.
Contribute to establishing data governance standards in collaboration with senior architect Chris Hyde.
Dynamics 365 & Practice Pro Integration
Understand how Practice Pro feeds Dynamics 365 Sales/Marketing and the Fabric lakehouse.
Build reporting datasets to support CRM insights, lead scoring, client value metrics, and partner reporting.
Ensure alignment between operational processes, CRM structures, and downstream analytics.
Reporting & Analytics Development
Partner with business users to define KPIs (realization, utilization, billing accuracy, engagement metrics).
Deliver “quick wins” reporting while simultaneously shaping longer-term data models.
Build Power BI data models and dashboards that balance clarity, governance, and firm politics.
Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Familiarity
Collaborate with integration team leveraging the ESB (likely Mulesoft/Lite ESB equivalents).
Assist with data flows, mirroring, and change data capture to ensure Fabric receives clean, timely data.
Knowledge-Transfer & Team Enablement
Serve as the embedded analytics expert for a team of five internal automation/engineering staff.
Help uplift internal talent through peer review, documentation, and coaching.
Work closely with senior architect (Lead Engineer) during knowledge transition cycles.
You’ve become the go-to person for data & reporting across Tax and Wealth teams.
You’ve stabilized and expanded the Fabric data lakehouse with trustworthy, governed data sets.
Leadership sees clear improvement in reporting clarity and speed of delivery.
Internal teams begin adopting consistent modeling patterns you helped establish.
You handle the political nuance between “old accounting reporting preferences” vs “modern KPIs” with diplomacy and clarity.
