The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has a full-time opportunity available for a
** LAN Administrator (Information Systems Specialist 4****)
** based in Portland, Oregon.
* 3 years of information systems experience,
* OR
* * 1 years of information systems experience and an Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

* Advanced Consultation:
Experience providing high-level technical consultation and strategic advice to managers, professional IT staff, and diverse system users across in-person and remote environments.
* Systems Expertise:
Professional experience managing the lifecycle of workstation hardware, mobile platforms, and specialized software within a Microsoft-centric ecosystem.
* Complex Problem Solving:
Proven ability to analyze and diagnose complex technical failures, performing root-cause analysis to implement permanent solutions rather than temporary fixes.
* Technical Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with specific experience authoring Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for IT staff and clear, accessible technical guides for end users.
* Identity &
Infrastructure: Proficiency in Identity and Access Management (IAM) using Microsoft Active Directory/Entra , including experience with group policy, file structure permissions, and enterprise service desk platforms (e.g., Jira, Service Now, or Ivanti).
* Modern Workplace Tools:
Demonstrated mastery of the Microsoft 365 suite (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and Office) with the ability to troubleshoot integration issues between cloud services and local endpoints.
* Diplomacy & Conflict Resolution:
Ability to deal diplomatically and tactfully with upset or adversarial individuals, maintaining professional composure while navigating high-pressure technical outages.
* Adaptive Priority Management:
Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload, prioritizing competing assignments and tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
* Analytical Initiative:
Strong critical thinking skills used to exercise independent judgment and initiative; a track record of contributing to a team environment in a positive, inclusive, and solution-oriented manner.
