Overview
Enterprise Network Engineer (Routing/Switching | Campus Networks | Hybrid)
- Full-Time role
- Target comp DOE, plus a 15% annual profit share.
- Most work can be done remote, but some onsite customer visits. Mostly local to Portland, but a little bit of regional travel. Bend/Roseburg/Ridgefield is the furthest away you would go.
- Small amount of pre-sales stuff (maybe some presentations), but mostly post-sales/implementation hands-on Engineering.
- Manager looks for a growth mindset, someone who is a constant learner. His interviews are very conversational, Tell me about yourself? What tech are you working with? What do you want to be doing? How do you learn best?
- Implement & deploy enterprise switching and routing solutions across diverse client environments, following best practices and design standards
- Act as the Tier 3 escalation point for complex network issues—methodical troubleshooting and resolution
- Partner with PMs to drive successful project delivery (scope/timeline/budget) and proactively mitigate risks
- Produce strong as-built documentation
, config guides, and knowledge transfer materials for customer IT teams - Serve as a trusted technical advisor—build long-term customer relationships through consistent delivery
- Perform health checks / optimization recommendations based on field observations and evolving needs
- Support discovery sessions and help shape solution recommendations
- Contribute technical input to diagrams,
BOMs
, and SOWs for campus network solutions - Deliver occasional technical presentations/demos; provide input for proposals/RFPs
- 4–6 years hands-on network engineering experience with expertise in enterprise campus switching
- Proven success delivering implementations/migrations and resolving complex issues
- Strong protocol knowledge:
TCP/IP, STP variants, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP - Deep hands-on with Cisco Catalyst
, IOS/IOS-XE
, and Cisco DNA Center - Campus architecture fundamentals: segmentation, QoS, multicast, high availability patterns
- VAR/MSP/professional services background (highly advantageous)
- Exposure to other platforms:
Arista EOS, Juniper Junos, HPE/Aruba AOS-CX (bonus)
Tech/Vendor Ecosystem: Cisco (Catalyst, IOS/IOS-XE, DNA Center), plus bonus exposure to Arista Networks / Juniper Networks / HPE Aruba Networking.
Work Style / Interview Flow- Mostly remote;
Mondays onsite for AM meetings - Occasional onsite customer visits; limited regional travel (few hours drive)
- Must be currently located in the Portland, Oregon area.
