Position: IT Infrastructure Field Technician (Portland, OR)

IT Field Technician (MSP)

The Field Technician is responsible for assisting with on-site IT infrastructure deployments, hardware installations, and basic configuration tasks for client environments. This role supports project initiatives such as workstation rollouts, network upgrades, and equipment replacements, while learning industry standards and project procedures in a fast‑paced, client‑facing setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travel to client sites to assist in deploying and installing IT hardware (workstations, printers, firewalls, switches, wireless access points, etc.).
  • Unbox, rack, cable, and power on devices according to project documentation.
  • Perform basic workstation setups and peripheral installations.
  • Follow instructions from Project Engineers and document work completed accurately in Autotask.
  • Update tickets with clear notes, time entries, and status changes.
  • Assist with inventory handling, asset tagging, and device registration in Autotask and IT Glue.
  • Participate in physical site walkthroughs, surveys, or assessments when needed.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and elevate issues promptly to senior team members.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's in IT is a plus).
  • Experience:

    1-2 years of IT support or a related technical role.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in Windows desktop operating systems.
    • Familiarity with Office 365 setup and troubleshooting.
    • Understanding of basic networking.
    • Strong communication and customer service skills.
    • Adaptable to changing schedules and priorities.
    • Comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
    • IT Certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, AWS, Microsoft, Azure Certified) are desired but not required.
