Technical Product Manager

Portland, OR, US

4 days ago Requisition

Salary Range: $ To $ Annually

Position Overview

The Technical Product Manager (TPM) owns the full product lifecycle of ZAVTEK's RTPM platform. This is a hybrid role sitting at the intersection of technology, operations, and customer success. The TPM translates field intelligence from technicians, account managers, and managed service customers into a prioritized product roadmap — then works directly with engineering and data partners to execute it. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience with IoT or industrial monitoring platforms, a clear understanding of managed services business models, and a working knowledge of critical power equipment including UPS systems, battery strings, PDUs, and static transfer switches.

Employment Type:

Full‑Time

Core Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain the RTPM product roadmap, balancing near‑term customer needs with long‑term platform scalability.
  • Establish product vision, success metrics (KPIs), and release milestones in collaboration with leadership.
  • Conduct competitive analysis of monitoring and managed services platforms; identify differentiation opportunities for ZAVTEK.
  • Translate field feedback from technicians, account managers, and customers into structured product requirements.
Platform Development Oversight
  • Author detailed product requirement documents (PRDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineering teams.
  • Own backlog grooming and sprint prioritization in collaboration with development leads.
  • Define API and integration requirements for device‑side data collection (SNMP, Modbus TCP/RTU, REST/JSON) and cloud ingestion pipelines.
  • Drive the client dashboard experience — defining data visualizations, alert logic, trend views, and report templates.
  • Oversee QA and user acceptance testing processes; validate that released features meet field requirements.
  • Serve as the internal product authority — the primary liaison between engineering, field operations, sales, and account management.
  • Partner with account managers to support customer onboarding, platform demonstrations, and ongoing service reviews.
  • Gather voice‑of‑customer (VOC) data through site visits, customer interviews, and service ticket analysis.
  • Develop internal and customer‑facing product documentation, training materials, and release notes.
Managed Services Alignment
  • Ensure the RTPM platform supports and enhances ZAVTEK's managed services delivery model — including condition‑based PM dispatch, remote triage, and automated reporting.
  • Define and refine SLA frameworks and alert escalation logic within the platform.
  • Work with the operations team to establish fulfillment workflows triggered by platform‑generated events.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, with at least 2 years in a technical or IoT/industrial monitoring context.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full product lifecycle from concept through launch and iteration.
  • Working knowledge of device communication protocols — particularly SNMP (v2c/v3), Modbus TCP/RTU, and REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with cloud platform architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and SaaS delivery models.
  • Experience with or exposure to managed services environments — understanding of how MSPs deliver, bill, and support recurring service contracts.
  • Knowledge of critical power infrastructure: UPS systems (single‑ and three‑phase), battery monitoring, PDUs, or STS units preferred.
  • Proficiency with product management tooling (Jira, Confluence, Productboard, or equivalent).
  • Strong technical writing skills — able to produce clear PRDs, user stories, and specifications independently.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field required; MBA or equivalent plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data analytics or business intelligence tools (Power BI, Grafana, Tableau, or similar) used in operational dashboards.
  • Background in or exposure to facilities, datacenter, or critical infrastructure industries.
  • PMP, CSPO, or equivalent product/project management certification.
  • Familiarity with UPS MIB standards (RFC 1628) and SNMP trap handling.
  • Experience supporting sales teams in SaaS or managed services product demonstrations.
