Position Overview

The Vice President of Epic Applications is an executive leader responsible for advancing OCHIN's Epic application strategy, delivery, and support capabilities to enable exceptional care for a growing nationwide network of members. This role is accountable for ensuring Epic is designed, built, optimized, and supported at a best in class level-delivering a highly reliable, intuitive, and member centered experience.

Reporting to the COO, the VP provides strategic and operational oversight across the full Epic lifecycle-including installation, enhancement, maintenance, and release management-and leads a large, multidisciplinary division of Epic professionals. This role is distinct from hosting, infrastructure, and core platform operations, partnering closely with technology platform leaders while retaining full accountability for Epic build quality, release execution, user experience, and service outcomes.

As a key member of the operations leadership team, the VP sets the vision for how Epic supports clinical quality, operational excellence, and scalable growth. The role requires a transformational leader who elevates customer service, strengthens delivery discipline, and continuously improves how members experience Epic-from implementation through long-term support.

Essential Duties

Enterprise Epic Applications Strategy & Platform Leadership

  • Define and own the enterprise Epic platform strategy and multiyear roadmap for Epic application build, optimization, and support, aligned with OCHIN's mission, growth objectives, and operational priorities.
  • Ensure Epic serves as a high-quality, service-oriented product, ensuring consistency, usability, and scalability across diverse member environments.
  • Establish clear application standards and guardrails that enable reliability and repeatability while supporting necessary clinical and operational variation.

Best in Class Epic Build, Deployment, and Support

  • Provide executive leadership for Epic application design, configuration, testing, deployment, stabilization, optimization, and long term support.
  • Ensure Epic builds are supportable by design, emphasizing configuration quality, documentation, standards adherence, and operational readiness.
  • Drive predictable, high quality delivery across installations, upgrades, and releases through disciplined planning, resourcing, and execution.
  • Establish clear service ownership, escalation models, and accountability for production, Epic performance, and member experience
  • Anticipate and integrate Epic release changes, regulatory requirements, and healthcare industry trends into platform planning.

Member Experience, Customer Service, & Support Excellence

  • Set and champion a vision for exceptional Epic customer service, ensuring members experience responsive, knowledgeable, and outcomes-focused support.
  • Define and monitor service performance metrics (e.g., responsiveness, resolution quality, satisfaction, and reliability).
  • Partner with operational and clinical leaders to continuously improve how Epic supports end-user workflows and day-to-day operations.
  • Foster a service mindset across Epic teams-balancing speed, quality, empathy, and accountability in every member interaction.

Product Optimization & Value Realization

  • Lead continuous optimization efforts that improve provider experience, patient engagement, access, throughput, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to translate Epic capabilities into measurable outcomes and realized value.
  • Advance responsible adoption of analytics, automation, and AI enabled capabilities where they meaningfully enhance care delivery and operations.
