Field Deployment Technician

As a Microsoft Windows Field Deployment Technician on our project, you'll support the VA's EHR deployment and training initiative. Your role involves deploying, imaging, and setting up equipment such as PCs, laptops, monitors, printers, and network connections across VA medical centers and offsite training locations. This position combines strong technical skills and excellent customer service, requiring hands-on equipment setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.

The role is primarily on-site and may include evening or weekend hours, with travel to other sites as needed.

• Deploy, image, and set up equipment including PCs, laptops, monitors, printers, scanners, and network connections.
• Unbox, install, configure, and remove equipment, and re-pack hardware for shipment.
• Set up equipment at various training sites, verify current VA computer images, and ensure systems are prepared for security scans and updates.
• Configure network connectivity in training rooms and install peripherals at each training seat.
• Transport equipment to different locations, often lifting items up to 50 pounds, and maneuvering carts.
• Conduct routine system administration tasks and maintain logs.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, support system imaging, and perform hardware repairs or upgrades.

Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

On-site at VA Medical Centers and offsite training locations.

• Minimum of 1-year experience in imaging and installing computer equipment.
• Ability to unpack, move, and install pallets of IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Personal transportation available during work hours.
• Experience with hardware and software support, troubleshooting, system imaging, hardware break-fix, upgrades, deployments, and excellent customer service skills.
• Familiarity with system administration tasks and troubleshooting various systems and networks, including high availability systems.
• Knowledge of debugging protocols and processes.
• HS diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in a professional environment in lieu of a degree or bachelor's degree in IT, CS, EE, IS, plus 1 year of experience.

• Experience with the Service Now ticketing system.
• Experience with the VA.
• Public Trust clearance.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows desktop deployments.
• Experience as IT helpdesk Tier 1 or 2.
