Who

You Are:

The Immigration Attorney I/DOJ Accredited Representative position is a critical part of the CCILS team. This role will provide direct legal services to individuals. The Immigration Attorney I/DOJ Accredited Representative position is a part of a team who focuses on family reunification and assistance to the most vulnerable immigrants, including domestic violence victims, crime victims, refugees, and certain persons needing deportation and removal defense.

What

You Will Work On:
  • The attorney/DOJ Accredited Representative will provide direct immigration legal services to low‑income individuals.
  • Providing legal consultations and representation.
  • Representing clients before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in cases, including but not limited to: family‑based petitions, waivers, consular processing, Adjustments of Status, Asylum, Humanitarian Parole.
  • Representing clients in removal proceedings in Immigration Court if needed.
  • Ensure that all assigned legal services are provided in accordance with applicable State and Local regulatory requirements, Catholic Charities Board Policies, Social Service Division Policies, and the Catholic Charities Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct.
  • Coordinate legal volunteers, interns, and externs and provide supervision. If needed.
  • Conduct trainings for legal service providers, community partners, and law students; some travel is required. If needed.
  • Perform community outreach and education events; some travel is required.
  • Effectively represent CCILS at community functions and at other events as requested or needed.
  • Participate in trainings and meetings as requested by Supervisor.
  • Adherence to Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What You Bring:

Education, Certifications, and Licensure Requirements/Preferences
  • JD degree from an accredited law school and admission to bar in any state or have the credentials to apply for DOJ Accreditation.
Experience Requirements/Preferences
  • One year of previous experience practicing immigration law preferred.
  • Ability to communicate concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing in Spanish and English.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
BACKGROUND AND MVR SCREENING:

Satisfactory results from pre‑employment criminal and civil background screening required. Motor vehicle records (MVR) review required as needed.
