Summary
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Oregon is seeking to fill multiple Legal Administrative Specialist (Lit Support) positions located in Portland, OR.
This is an open continuous announcement intended to continually solicit applications in order to fill immediate and future vacancies. Initial application reviews will begin January 28, 2026.

These positions are located in Portland, Oregon within our Criminal Division.
If selected, you will serve as a Legal Administrative Specialist(Lit Support) responsible for performing technical work to support the litigation needs of the United States Attorney's Office.
Typical work assignments will include:
- Consults with litigation team members (e.g., attorneys, investigators, legal support staff) to understand case needs and technical requirements. Develops a plan for processing electronic files consistent with those requirements.
- Operates software or equipment to present exhibits during criminal legal proceedings
- Uses software applications to extract electronic case materials from storage devices or download electronic case materials from secure file transfer sites. Routes and stores electronic case materials in compliance with office policies and procedures. Ensures proper security is maintained over case and litigation support project materials, in accordance with office policies and procedures.
- Generates basic electronic discovery productions (e.g., Bates-numbered images with red actions and searchable text) that comply with production specifications and deadlines, including productions from document review databases. Performs quality control on electronic discovery productions and addresses any identified issues.
- Uses software applications to edit audio and video files consistent with litigation team requirements.
- Answers litigation team questions as they arise. Explains technical issues and processes in manner comprehensible to litigation team members.

- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation

GS-7:
To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below:
Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of
Education and Experience .
- Specialized Experience
: at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes performing routine litigation support assignments such as assisting with organizing case information; assisting attorneys in preparing for court by preparing exhibits, compiling trial notebooks, compiling witness and exhibit lists; preparing computerized trial presentations and exhibits; and conducting research, analysis and evaluation of data in response to requests. - Education
:
Successful completion of one (1) full year of progressively higher-level graduate education (18 semester hours or the number of units your school uses to describe one graduate year of academic study) in related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Computer Science, Law, Information Technology) leading to a master's degree OR bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement. Superior academic achievement is as follows: standing in the upper third of your graduating class or major subdivision OR membership in one of the national scholastic honor Societies;
OR Grade Point Average. Applicants must have a grade point average of: (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. - Combining Education and Experience

Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
