-based advanced materials and specialty manufacturing company supporting high-tech and semiconductor-related industries is seeking a Commodity Specialist to join its supply chain organization in Portland, OR
.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a rising supply chain professional who wants to transition into strategic sourcing and commodity management while gaining exposure to technical materials, supplier strategy, cost improvement, forecasting, and supply-chain execution.
This is not a routine purchasing or administrative role. It is a developmental, high-visibility opportunity for someone who has built a strong foundation in procurement, buying, planning, supplier coordination, or sourcing support — and is ready to grow into broader commodity responsibility over time.
The OpportunityYou will work closely with Commodity Managers and supply chain leadership to support supplier performance, sourcing activity, inventory planning, cost savings, and continuity of supply across a technical manufacturing environment.
This role offers exposure to:
- Semiconductor-related and specialty manufacturing supply chains
- Technical commodities including chemicals, packaging, MRO, lab materials, and related categories
- Supplier strategy, RFQ/RFP support, cost improvement, and supplier performance management
- Cross-functional work with Supply Chain, Purchasing, Quality, Operations, Engineering, and leadership
- A clear path toward future Junior Commodity Manager / Commodity Manager responsibility
- Support sourcing activity, supplier management, and supply continuity initiatives
- Analyze demand, inventory, supplier forecasts, and commodity data
- Assist with RFQ/RFP activity, supplier reviews, contract support, and supplier follow-up
- Help drive cost savings, cost avoidance, supplier performance, and process improvement
- Partner with internal teams to ensure materials are available to support production and customer demand
- Build the technical, commercial, and supplier-facing skills needed for long-term growth in strategic sourcing
The ideal candidate will bring a solid supply chain foundation and a serious interest in building a career in strategic sourcing or commodity management.
Strong backgrounds may include procurement, buying, planning, sourcing support, supplier management, inventory, or commodity support within a manufacturing or technical environment.
