Custodial / Maintenance Services Sub Pool,  School Year

Custodial / Maintenance Services Substitute,  School Year. This position is for the Facility Operations Substitute Pool for the District with varying shifts and duties for the  school year. Jobs can be at any location in the District and 8 hour positions, 40 hour work week. Applications will be screened and, if selected, applicants will be notified as to next steps by the Facility Operations Department.

Position Summary

The school custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the building and physical plant, and supports a learning environment that promotes health, attitude and pride of students. In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment. The school custodian also serves as a role model for students by displaying a professional, courteous, and helpful nature.

The school custodian assists with building/campus security as necessary and provides support and works closely with the building administrator during day and evening activities.

This position will also support the Facility Operations Maintenance and Grounds staff by assisting with filter changes, changing light bulbs, ballast, etc. When working with the grounds crew, this position will assist with maintaining the fronts of the building and walk behind mowing.

Compensation

Initial wage placement according to NCSD/OSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

CLASSIFIED WAGE SCHEDULE

Job Group C, Steps 2–9: 19.55, 20.54, 21.56, 22.65, 23.76, 24.97, 26.21, 27.52. External candidates: C3 - 20.54.

Retirement Plan Contributions

North Clackamas School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System PERS and OPSRP on behalf of its employees. The district contributes the employer portion; there is also a mandatory employee portion. Upon eligibility, which is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position, the employee is required to contribute 6% as their employee portion, via payroll deduction.

Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Incumbents must have successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent, or at least two years of custodial experience may substitute for the education requirement.
  • May be trained in first aid certification CPR and defibrillator training.
  • Ability to communicate and maintain good working relations with all District employees, vendors, contractors, and public entities.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions requiring the ability to concentrate and consistently produce accurate work while responding to interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Initiative and ability to work with minimal direction; sound judgment and decision-making capabilities are essential.
  • Knowledge of state and local codes related to assigned trade craft.
  • Must possess a State driver’s license and a safe driving record and be able and willing to operate district-owned vehicles. May be required to possess or obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work using ladders, scaffolding, mechanical lifts and district vehicles. Ability to spend most of the work day standing, lifting, and walking. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move heavier materials using appropriate equipment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual and bicultural skills.
  • Experience with and knowledge of intrusion alarms, automatic fire alarm sprinkler systems, HVAC systems and controls.
