Installation Technician, Field/Service Technician
Job Summary
Direct Hire, with full benefits available. THIS POSITION REQUIRES A CURRENT LEA or LEB LICENSE.
The Journeyman will act as the on‑site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects. The Journeyman's task will be to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project.
Salary: $35.00 – $42.00 per year.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Consistently run major project crews; assume responsibility for effective performance and provide necessary training.
- Ensure adherence to company and customer safety and quality guidelines and hold weekly safety meetings.
- Initiate performance‑related communications and, if necessary, escalated to Project Manager.
- Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion, and compliance with project budget.
- Fully complete all IES Commercial and project paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, and others as required).
- Perform quality checks; coordinate moves and cut sheets for voice and data cross‑connects; prepare red‑lined as‑built drawings.
- Serve as main on‑site customer contact for questions and/or concerns; attend facility and construction meetings when required.
- Perform work consistently demonstrating a detailed level of technical knowledge; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.

- High School diploma or GED equivalency.
- Limited Energy license or the required hours needed to obtain a license with the state of Oregon.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical field.
- Minimum of six (6) months supervisory and/or managerial experience.
- Ability to terminate fiber.
- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
- Knowledge of universal communications color codes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
- Minimum driving standards met.
- Self‑motivated, positive approach, professional, promoting company culture.
- Act as company liaison for interface with customer representatives.
- Proven problem‑solving skills, critical thinking, effective oral communication.
- Ability to work at heights, off a ladder, and in confined spaces.
- Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to see and distinguish different colors, read small print, and hear audible signals such as dial tones.
- Willingness to travel within branch or regional territory as needed.
