Department Overview

The Clinical Project Manager supports the Knight Cancer Institute through the administration and coordination of large, complex, and multi-component clinical and operational programs and initiatives. The position is responsible for overseeing program activities, managing project portfolios, coordinating resources, monitoring outcomes, and ensuring effective implementation of strategic priorities that advance access, quality, operational performance, and patient outcomes across the cancer care continuum.

Working under limited supervision, this position operates with a high degree of independence and accountability in managing multiple concurrent programs and projects. The Clinical Project Manager partners closely with clinical, operational, administrative, and executive leadership to coordinate program operations, establish project priorities, develop implementation strategies, and ensure successful execution of organizational objectives. The position oversees program plans, timelines, budgets, performance measures, contracts, and operational processes;

develops and implements policies, procedures, and standardized practices; and monitors program effectiveness through data analysis and outcome evaluation. The Clinical Project Manager prepares reports, recommendations, and presentations for departmental and institutional leadership regarding program performance, risks, opportunities, and strategic initiatives.

Serving as a primary liaison among internal and external stakeholders, this position facilitates collaboration across departments, service lines, and leadership teams to support program operations and institutional priorities. Success in this role requires strong program administration, project management relationship management, and communication skills, as well as the ability to influence and coordinate diverse stakeholders within a highly matrixed academic healthcare environment.

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the Clinical Project Manager contributes to the successful administration, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives supporting the mission and strategic goals of the Knight Cancer Institute and OHSU Health.

Function/Duties of Position

Enterprise Project Leadership & Execution

  • Direct the day-to-day management and administration of large-scale, complex, and multi-faceted clinical and operational programs and initiatives.
  • Develop and oversee project plans, timelines, deliverables, implementation strategies, and resource allocation plans.
  • Coordinate program activities across multiple departments, service lines, and stakeholder groups to ensure successful execution and achievement of objectives.
  • Ensure alignment of program activities with Knight Cancer Institute, OHSU Health, and departmental strategic priorities.

Program Operations, Policy Development, and Resource Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain program policies, procedures, workflows, and operational standards to ensure consistent and efficient program operations.
  • Monitor program budgets, expenditures, contracts, and resource utilization; provide analysis and recommendations regarding resource allocation and operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate vendor, consultant, and stakeholder relationships as necessary to support program objectives.
  • Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies to support successful program outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement and Leadership Support

  • Serve as a primary liaison for internal and external stakeholders regarding program operations, priorities, and initiatives.
  • Build collaborative relationships with clinical leaders, faculty, administrators, and operational teams to facilitate program success.
  • Lead meetings, work groups, and governance forums; provide consultation and guidance regarding program implementation and project execution.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and project leadership support for project coordinators, analysts, or other program staff as appropriate.

Performance Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
