Job Description

You’re a strategic, collaborative fundraising leader who knows that strong development work is about more than raising money—it’s about building relationships, connecting people to mission, and creating the systems and team culture that make sustained growth possible.
You’re fascinated by what inspires people to invest in a mission and how strong relationships can deepen that investment over time.

  • You’re comfortable moving between big-picture strategy and the day-to‑day leadership needed to turn that strategy into results.
  • You’re skilled at leading and developing people, building strong fundraising programs, using data to guide decisions, and creating clarity around priorities and performance.
  • You’re at your best when you’re bringing people together around a shared goal—giving your team direction while empowering them to lead their areas of expertise.
  • You’re excited to contribute to a growing culture of philanthropy where donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners see themselves as part of Habitat’s mission.
  • You love being a connector—between donors and mission, strategy and execution, and Development and the broader organization.
  • You oversee a talented fundraising team and a diverse portfolio of revenue streams, ensuring the people, strategies, systems, and resources are in place to achieve ambitious goals.
  • You support your team by setting clear direction, removing barriers, developing their leadership, and creating the conditions for them to succeed.
Your Work Environment And Activities
  • Your workday will be located in a human‑paced, team‑oriented, business‑casual style office setting.
  • Depending on the position responsibilities, you may be eligible for remote/hybrid work based on performance, and access to essential work‑related resources.
  • While in the office, you will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • An office‑based role means that your day will be mostly sedentary, with some time spent moving files, open filing cabinets, bending, and/or standing on a stool as necessary.
  • Occasionally you will travel between other Habitat locations or temporary worksites.
Your Work Schedule
  • 40‑hour work week, generally Monday - Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
  • Occasionally you may be asked to work overtime
Responsibilities
  • Developing and leading strategic fundraising initiatives:
Drive the organization’s three‑year fundraising strategy in alignment with the five‑year strategic plan.
  • Leading, managing, and supporting five direct reports:
Provide strategic direction, coaching, and support to the Deputy Director of Foundation and Donor Engagement, Senior Business Engagement Officer, Development Manager, Member Engagement Program Manager, and Event Program Manager.
  • Overseeing budget forecasting and management:
Lead annual budget forecasting and management.
  • Monitoring KPIs to ensure goals are met:
Oversee monthly performance tracking to measure progress, strengthen accountability, and inform strategy.
  • Guiding the Strategic Engagement Committee:
Lead a 12‑member committee in efforts to elevate awareness, deepen community engagement, and generate critical funding to advance the organization’s mission.
  • Strengthening cross‑departmental communication:
Connect regularly with program teams to ensure Development understands programmatic priorities, organizational needs, and emerging opportunities—and can translate them into compelling donor narratives and meaningful stewardship opportunities.
  • Partnering across Resource Development:
Work closely with the Directors of Communications and Volunteer Programs to ensure coordinated execution of programs, campaigns, events, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Building effective processes and systems:
Develop and implement efficient systems and workflows that support staff productivity, strengthen team effectiveness, and enable program growth.
  • Operationalizing a culture of philanthropy:
Embed practices of gratitude, storytelling, stewardship, and community engagement into departmental operations.
