NSC Staffing is seeking Pipe Welders with 2-5 years of experience for an exciting project in Portland, OR. This is an excellent opportunity to join a skilled team working on the repair and modernization of marine vessels, including those of the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, and commercial ships.
$26 and $160 a day per diem. Non-Local
$37 Local Pay
Test is: NAVSEA restricted 6G open root Copper nickel CuNi pipe test VI-179 / and NAVSEA VI-110 socket weld test
Position Overview:
We seek a detail-oriented, outgoing, dependable Marine Pipe Welder for an established Marine and Industrial Repair Company. Qualified applicants will be assessed on their skill level in CuNi and Carbon. Carbon being the lowest priority
Need is 5 - Day Shift and 4 - Swing Shift
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the following tasks, with additional duties as assigned.
- Read a tape measure
- Layout Material
- Fit-Up Material
- Rigging
- Read a blueprint/drawing/tech manual
- Comprehensive Torch and Weld Work
- Radius Gage
- Hand Power Tools
- Shop Tools/Equipment
- Must have verifiable in ½" CuNi socket test experience. Carbon experience a plus but lower priority than CuNi.
- Ability to comprehend and utilize blueprints, sketches, drawings, and technical manuals to weld metals
- Must have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and be able to multitask
- Understand the Work Process to measure, cut, and weld metal (of multiple material types) to the required specifications
- Ability to weld metal using various requirements and procedures such as SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with ongoing deadlines
- Must be able to work independently
- Understanding of the Ship repair industry
- Open-air conditions such as noise, hot and cold, and in an office-controlled environment.
- May have to visit projects aboard ships, rigs on and offshore, and confined spaces. Wear hearing, eye, and head protection and proper PPE when required.
- Visits may require standing on various surfaces at differing angles, bending over, crouching, and climbing obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members.
