Job Title
Heat Treat Material Handler
OverviewThe Heat Treat Material Handler is responsible for safely handling and processing steel plate in a heavy industrial environment. This role requires following all safety rules, completing work tasks according to standard operating procedures, and performing physical labor throughout 12‑hour rotating shifts.
Responsibilities- Use remotely controlled overhead cranes to stack and unstack steel plate
- Load and unload steel plate on conveyor systems
- Load and unload steel plate onto trucks and rail cars
- Use burning equipment and hand grinders to cut and prepare plate samples for testing
- Tag and mark steel plate
- Enter data into computer systems
- Operate forklift
- Perform additional responsibilities as directed by the front‑line supervisor
- Ability to work in environments subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, and noise
- Ability to accurately enter data into computers without transposing figures
- Ability to read and follow procedures and technical manuals
- Ability to think ahead and plan work in a fast‑paced setting
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds
- Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, accurate number identification)
- Ability to work 12‑hour rotating shifts
- Ability to quickly coordinate hand motions with overhead crane operation
- Comfortable working in high places
- Successful completion of an ergonomic test
- Preferred Experience operating a remote‑controlled crane in a fast‑paced environment
- 2–5 years industrial experience
- Experience in a position requiring planning out work
- $25.00/hour
