Position: Shipyard Structural/Aluminum (MIG) Welders for Portland Oregon Shipyard

Introduction

Venture Dynamics is actively seeking Pipe Welders for the Portland OR, Vigor Shipyard to specialize in NAVSEA welding projects within shipyards.

Pay

$33.00 per hour, $150 per diem per day worked for qualified travelers. Contract duration:
Starts ASAP, long term. Day and swing shifts available.

Position Overview

This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional to engage in Pipe Welding tasks, ensuring excellence in every aspect of the job.

Key Requirements
  • Completion of Marine OSHA 10 training is mandatory.
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizen with proof (Enhanced Driver License/ Real  with Birth Certificate or U.S. Passport).
  • Maritime OSHA 10 certification.
  • Previous shipyard experience required.
  • Experience in Pipe Welding on Navy vessels is required.
  • Ability to pass the following tests:
    CuNi‑IR test, Copper Nickel test, and NAVSEA Pipe Welding certification tests.
  • Working hours:

    40‑60 hours per week with diverse shifts including 8‑hour, 10‑hour, and 12‑hour shifts. Monday through Friday with overtime and weekends as requested by client.
  • Day and swing shifts available.
Key Responsibilities
  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures and components in shipyard environments.
  • Read and interpret weld symbols, blueprints, schematics, and job specifications.
  • Ensure all welding tasks meet or exceed quality control standards and are ready for inspection.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure project specifications and deadlines are met.
  • Conduct inspections of completed welds to ensure structural integrity and adherence to safety protocols.
Qualifications
  • Strong ability to work from blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures in shipyard environments.
Additional Skills (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with welding inspection and quality assurance.
