Machinist Helper
As a Machinist Helper, you’ll be part of our Machine Shop team working as an on‑site employee. This position is responsible for operating one or more NC, CNC, grinding, honing or gear‑making machines. These machines perform drilling, tapping, milling, turning, boring, shaping and other machine operations over a wide range of surfaces, diameters and depths. Jobs may be complex and require machining to very close tolerances.
Work Type: This position will be based onsite at our Milwaukie, OR facility. This job opening is not eligible for immigration/work visa sponsorship.
Shift Timings: 1st shift
Responsibilities- Assist Machinists with machine operation while learning machine tear‑downs and setups.
- Load and unload parts and raw materials into machine.
- Check product for conformity to specifications and ensure proper handling of nonconforming product.
- Complete all necessary production documentation.
- Comply with all management systems set in place by ISO
9001, ISO
14001 and OHSAS
18001. - Perform secondary operations such as counter‑bore, drill press, arbor press, deburr, bulge master, sub‑assemblies, and packaging.
- Deliver completed parts to designated area.
- Conduct light machine maintenance, such as checking oil and filling oil and coolant.
- Adhere to 5S+1 program.
- Keep work area organized and clean up at end of shift.
- Participate in continuous improvement and LEAN activities.
- Must adhere to all quality and safety programs, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May be required to operate overhead crane, jib hoist and other lifting devices safely and properly. Onsite training and certification required prior to operation.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision.
- Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- High school graduate or equivalent. Trade school experience in a related field a plus.
- Minimum of 6 months CNC machine operating experience preferred.
- Knowledge of proper use of hand tools.
- Knowledge of basic measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, holtest, dial indicator, edge finder, height gauge, depth micrometer and fixed gauges.
- Basic shop math knowledge.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written machining procedures.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and set up sheets (preferred).
- Ability to use an electric pallet jack.
