Legacy Talent Search is currently seeking candidates for a Manual Machinist role in Portland, OR. Key Responsibilities- Independently set up and operate manual lathes, mills, grinders, and other machine tools to produce complex, precision parts.
- Apply extensive knowledge to read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
- Verify dimensions and tolerances of finished parts using advanced precision measuring instruments.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior machinists, sharing best practices and advanced machining techniques.
- Perform routine and advanced maintenance on shop equipment, ensuring reliability and accuracy.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex machining challenges, recommending improvements to increase efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support custom part fabrication, prototyping, and specialized repair needs.
- Uphold the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism within the machine shop.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or advanced technical training strongly preferred.
- 15+ years of experience as a Manual Machinist in a manufacturing or precision machine shop environment.
- Expert-level knowledge of machining practices, machine shop math, and materials.
- Proven ability to handle complex setups and tight tolerances.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions.
- Leadership ability with experience training and mentoring other machinists.
- Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Commitment to quality, precision, and continuous improvement.
- Highly competitive compensation, commensurate with senior-level experience. $28-$45 DOE.
