Legacy Talent Search is currently seeking candidates for a Journeyman Manual Machinist in Portland, OR. Key Responsibilities:· Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and other conventional machining equipment.
· Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions to manufacture precision components.
· Machine a variety of metals to exact specifications while maintaining tight tolerances.
· Perform layouts, measurements, and calculations to determine machining requirements.
· Select and install tooling, fixtures, and work holding devices for efficient production.
· Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges.
· Modify, repair, and fabricate custom parts, tooling, fixtures, and machine components as needed.
· Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to ensure product quality.
· Accurately document completed work, inspections, and production activities.
· Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet daily production goals.
· Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
· Promptly report equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, or safety hazards to supervisors.
Qualifications:· Journeyman Machinist certification or equivalent combination of education and extensive manual machining experience.
· Minimum of 5 years of manual machining experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment preferred.
· Strong experience operating manual mills, lathes, grinders, and related shop equipment.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.
· Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, feeds, speeds, and material properties.
· Proficiency using precision measuring instruments and quality inspection techniques.
· Excellent mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
· Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
