General Production Worker
The General Production Worker is responsible for processing, screening, and packaging product to ensure it meets or exceeds customer expectations. GPWs must follow all safety, GMP, and quality processes in every step of production to maintain the integrity of the product and the safety of all team members. Personal hygiene standards must be maintained.
Hours and Shift- 1st Shift – 7:00am to 3:00pm
- 2nd Shift – 3:00pm to 11:00pm
- 3rd Shift – 11:00pm to 7:00am
Starting pay: $19.20 per hour with a shift increase for second and third shifts.
Responsibilities- Inspect product on various lines to check for foreign material and to ensure product meets customer specifications such as proper color, size, shape, etc.
- Properly stack product to maintain accurate case counts for each product.
- Assemble and tape boxes in a fast pace to keep up with production lines.
- Pack product in boxes based on customer specifications, ensuring proper weight and product count.
- Train new hires and transferred team members and be willing to learn all general production positions as roles will rotate on a regular basis throughout each shift, potentially covering both corn and flour departments.
- Follow general manufacturing, safety, and quality processes and immediately communicate any product, equipment, quality, safety, or HR concerns to the lead and/or supervisor.
- Complete ongoing production, quality, safety, and required training.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the production area, keeping it free of debris and potential foreign material, and return and production-related tools and equipment at the end of each shift.
- Notify the supervisor and/or QA of contamination concerns and follow company policies and procedures, written or verbal.
- Perform all other tasks as assigned.
- Ability to perform GPW training checklist job tasks within the expected training period.
- Ability to follow direction and stay on task with little to no supervision.
- Effective communication with colleagues and management in a professional manner.
- Ability to read and understand GMP operation standards, manuals, and related documentation.
The successful candidate must be willing and able to perform the following physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation:
• Flexibility of wrists and hands
• Strength and sufficient mobility to walk, bend, stand, twist, push/pull, and lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis
• Ability to stand or walk on a concrete floor for up to eight (8) hours a day
Job‑specific training will be conducted by designated trainers, managers, supervisors, colleagues, and subject‑matter experts. Training may include, but is not limited to, general manufacturing processes (GMP), job‑safety analysis, lock‑out/tag‑out, ongoing quality, safety, HR, and departmental training. Monthly safety and GMP topics will be conducted by the immediate supervisor with information from the Safety Director and QA Manager.
Safety & Personal Protective EquipmentPersonal protective equipment must be worn at all times on the production floor. It may include a smock, hair net, ear plugs, slip‑resistant shoes, safety glasses, gloves, boots, and aprons. The worker must meet personal hygiene and dress standards, keeping nails clean, clothes clean, and hair groomed. Jewelry, ripped clothing, or jewelry that can become loose is prohibited.
