General Production Worker Job Description
The General Production Worker racks metal parts and prepares them for powder coating in an industrial manufacturing plant. This role focuses on carefully picking parts, hanging them on racks, visually inspecting them for quality, and accurately entering completed work orders into the computer system to help keep production running smoothly.
Responsibilities- Rack metal parts and prepare them for powder coating in Plant 1.
- Pick parts from designated areas and hang them securely on racks according to work instructions.
- Perform visual inspections of metal parts to identify defects or quality issues before and after processing.
- Enter completed work orders and production data into the computer system accurately and in a timely manner.
- Handle materials safely, including lifting and moving parts weighing between 30–50 lbs repeatedly.
- Follow basic work instructions and standard operating procedures to maintain consistent quality and productivity.
- Support smooth production flow by communicating with management and team members about any issues or delays.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and efficiency.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and practices in an industrial environment.
- Assist with general production and packaging tasks as needed to meet production goals.
- Experience in general production, racking, packaging, or material handling.
- Ability to perform repetitive and tedious tasks while maintaining focus and quality.
- High attention to safety in an industrial work environment.
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple work orders or tasks throughout the shift.
- Capability to lift between 30–50 lbs repeatedly as part of daily duties.
- Ability to read and follow basic work instructions and production documentation.
- Basic computer skills to enter completed work orders into a computer system.
- Strong attention to detail for visual inspection of parts and quality checks.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in metal plating, coating, or similar industrial manufacturing environments is an asset.
- Familiarity with inspection practices for metal parts is helpful.
- Comfort working in varying temperatures, including warm conditions in summer and cooler conditions in winter.
- Strong reliability and willingness to support production needs as they arise.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a metal plating and coating company with approximately 100 employees across three plants. The environment is industrial, focused on plating and coating metal parts for various customers. You will work around production equipment, racks, and materials used for powder coating and general production tasks. Temperatures can be warm in the summer and cold in some departments during the winter, so you should be comfortable working in varying conditions.
The setting is hands‑on and physically active, with a focus on safety, teamwork, and consistent production flow.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.65/hr.
