The Stainless Steel Shear & Fabrication Operator is responsible for operating manual shearing equipment and other fabrication machinery to process stainless steel components according to engineering drawings and production requirements. This position requires strong blueprint-reading abilities, manufacturing math skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality parts while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
** Essential Duties and Responsibilities
*** Set up and operate manual shearing equipment to cut stainless steel materials to specified dimensions and tolerances.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and manufacturing specifications.
* Perform layout, measuring, and marking of stainless steel materials.
* Operate fabrication equipment, including but not limited to:  + Roll forming and plate rolling machines  + Drill presses  + Band saws and cold saws  + Angle grinders  + Deburring equipment  + Other fabrication machinery as assigned
* Verify dimensions and quality using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, squares, and gauges.
* Complete fabrication operations accurately while meeting production schedules and quality standards.
* Safely move and handle stainless steel materials and fabricated parts throughout the production process.
* Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
* Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
* Report quality, safety, maintenance, or material concerns to supervisors promptly.
** Qualifications
* *** Required
* ** High school diploma or GED.
* Manufacturing, metal fabrication, or sheet metal experience preferred.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and shop work instructions.
* Strong manufacturing math skills, including:  + Fractions and decimals  + Measurement conversions  + Basic geometry  + Accurate tape measure reading
* Experience using common measuring and inspection tools.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
* Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate fabrication equipment safely.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
** Physical Requirements
*** Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
* Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
* Perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with fabrication operations.
* Regular bending, reaching, stooping, and twisting.
* Ability to safely work around manufacturing equipment and moving materials.
** Work Environment
*** Stainless steel fabrication and manufacturing environment.
* Exposure to machinery, noise, dust, sharp metal edges, and material handling activities.
* Required use of safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other PPE.
