Aluminum Welder

Pay: $28–$38/hr

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Aluminum Welder to join a growing fabrication team in Portland. This role is responsible for reading blueprints, fabricating components, and performing high‑quality aluminum MIG welding to produce custom products that meet strict quality and design standards. The ideal candidate has a strong fabrication experience, takes pride in craftsmanship, and works safely in a fast‑paced shop environment.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication plans to determine project specifications.
  • Perform aluminum MIG welding, cutting, bending, fitting, and assembly of metal and plastic components.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including saws, brake presses, routers, grinders, and welding machines.
  • Ensure all fabricated parts meet dimensional tolerances, fit‑up requirements, and quality standards.
  • Conduct inspections throughout the fabrication process and make adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and project deadlines.
  • Identify and communicate material defects, quality concerns, or equipment issues.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of fabrication, welding, or sign manufacturing experience.
  • Strong aluminum MIG welding skills with the ability to produce high‑quality welds.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and shop documentation.
  • Experience using fabrication equipment such as saws, routers, brake presses, and hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid understanding of shop safety practices and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with additional welding processes such as TIG or steel MIG welding.
  • Knowledge of plastic fabrication and assembly techniques.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to accurately follow written work instructions and production documentation.
