Overview
The Heat Treat Material Handler is responsible for safely handling and processing steel plate in a heavy industrial environment. This role requires following all safety rules, completing work tasks according to standard operating procedures, and performing physical labor throughout 12‑hour rotating shifts. The starting wage is $25.00/hour with monthly incentive bonus opportunities.
Responsibilities- Use remotely controlled overhead cranes to stack and unstack steel plate.
- Load and unload steel plate on conveyor systems.
- Load and unload steel plate onto trucks and rail cars.
- Use burning equipment and hand grinders to cut and prepare plate samples for testing.
- Tag and mark steel plate.
- Enter data into computer systems.
- Operate forklift.
- Perform additional responsibilities as directed by the front‑line supervisor.
- Ability to work in environments with fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, and noise.
- Accurate data entry skills without transposing figures.
- Ability to read and follow procedures and technical manuals.
- Ability to plan work in a fast‑paced setting.
- Independent work capability.
- Regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, accurate number identification).
- Availability for 12‑hour rotating shifts.
- Ability to coordinate hand motions with overhead crane operation.
- Comfortable working in high places.
- Preferred:
Experience operating a remote‑controlled crane in a fast‑paced environment (2–5 years industrial experience). Experience requiring planning work.
