Machine Operator Job Description

Engage in material handling and machine operation within a metals recycling environment. Load raw metal pieces into a chopping machine to cut and form them into small, rounded pieces for sale to manufacturing companies. Offload the finished product from the machine and prepare it for shipping. Maintain machinery by lubricating, performing blade maintenance, and changing fluids.

• Operate machinery to handle and process metals.
• Load and unload raw and finished metal products.
• Ensure proper maintenance of machines, including lubrication and blade maintenance.
• Prepare finished products for shipment.

• Comfortable working in industrial environments with machinery.
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial settings is beneficial but not required.

• No specific experience required to be considered.
• Ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
• Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, high visibility vests, steel-toed boots, and ear plugs.
• Comfortable working outdoors approximately 50% of the time.

Work the first shift, Monday-Friday, with hours from 10am-6:30pm Monday-Thursday, and 6am-2:30pm on Fridays. Occasionally, you may be asked to start earlier on Fridays at 5:30am when needed, and you will finish earlier on those days. The environment is industrial with a strong focus on safety.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.

The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $23.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Portland,OR.
