Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Program Manager of First Generation in the Shepard Academic Resource Center (SARC), the First-Generation (FGEN) Digital Experience Ambassadors are yearlong positions focused on the creation and management of FGEN’s online presence. These ambassadors will be responsible for developing, curating, and sharing content across social media platforms, as well as maintaining the FGEN website to ensure it remains accessible, up-to-date, and informative for first-generation students.
The two Digital Experience Ambassadors will collaborate closely as a team, meeting weekly to plan content strategies, share updates, and troubleshoot challenges. Additionally, they will work to engage first-generation students through creative online initiatives. Their work will directly support the community-building efforts of the First-Generation program by providing relevant and engaging digital resources to enhance student engagement and success.
This position spans April 2026 – April 2027. Compensation for this role is $16.30/hour until July 2026, after which it will mirror the Portland Metro minimum wage.

Please note: If selected as an FGEN Ambassador, you are required to attend FGEN Staff training the week before the start of classes in August 2026 (tentatively Aug. 16th-21st), and you CANNOT serve in any Residence Life, ASUP Executive, Anchor Leader, or Orientation roles, or participate in any other role that will that interfere with the training schedule or duties of the Digital Experience Ambassador positions.

- Develop, schedule, and post content for FGEN social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.), ensuring consistent messaging aligns with the program’s values and goals. This includes providing valuable information and support for first-gen students, and curating content that highlights student stories, achievements, and events to foster a strong online community.
- Regularly update and maintain the FGEN website to ensure it is up-to-date, accessible, user-friendly, and visually appealing, incorporating new resources and program information as needed.
- Monitor social media pages to respond promptly to inquiries, collaboration requests, and other engagement opportunities.
- Collaborate and participate in required meetings for the role.
- Meet weekly with the Program Manager and other Digital Experience Ambassador to provide progress updates and address any challenges or needs.
- Attend FGEN Leadership Sessions, where all FGEN Programs’ teams connect for a common topic.
- Meet individually with the Program Manager at least twice per semester for check-ins focused on support, reflection, and professional growth.
- Track and analyze the performance of digital content (e.g., social media engagement metrics, website traffic) to assess effectiveness and make data-driven decisions for future content while continuously seeking feedback from stakeholders to improve resources and strategies.
- Assist with the development and promotion of FGEN Program marketing materials, including newsletters and support outreach efforts to spread awareness of the community and what it has to offer.
- Participate in professional development opportunities offered through the FGEN program, including trainings, workshops, reflection activities, and skill-building sessions.
