This position joins Oregon Health Authority’s statewide Ameri Corps VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team meetings, and support from VISTA team leaders and project director. The Arc of Benton County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing access and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities. The organization works to reduce barriers to health, economic stability, and community participation by strengthening systems of support and partnering with local service providers, public health agencies, and community organizations. Through this Ameri Corps VISTA position, the member will help build sustainable infrastructure that improves access to health‑promoting resources and supports for economically disadvantaged individuals with developmental disabilities.
MemberDuties
- Conduct a community and organizational assessment to identify gaps and barriers to accessing health‑promoting resources.
- Develop and strengthen cross‑sector partnerships.
- Develop outreach tools and plain‑language materials to improve awareness of available supports.
- Develop basic performance‑tracking and documentation tools to support sustainability.
- Organize and document project resources to support knowledge transfer. Ameri Corps VISTA members serve through indirect service and capacity building. This position focuses on systems development rather than direct service delivery.
- Desired skills include strong communication, organization, writing, and collaboration skills. Experience or interest in health, disability inclusion, or community systems is preferred.
