Note:
meeting location is from the Boones Ferry parking lot. - Friday tasks include improving trail surfaces, installing and maintaining drainage features, widening tread where appropriate, and restoring trail corridors to support safe and sustainable use.
- Saturday tasks include removing ivy growing up mature trees, digging up blackberry along the ground, planting and caring for new native trees and shrubs near the creek.
Volunteer activities include hiking 1-2 miles from the Nature Center to the current project location, and using hand tools like clippers and shovels. Instructions, gloves, supervision, and tools are provided (feel free to bring your own gloves).
Friends of Tryon Creek is a community-supported nonprofit started in 1970 by a group of dedicated park neighbors to preserve Tryon Canyon. Our mission in partnership with Oregon State Parks is to inspire every community to identify, cultivate or reclaim their relationship with nature in this cherished urban forest.
Volunteers learn about local plants, ecology and stewardship efforts underway to improve the park environment. As well as hand on techniques to care for the land.
Volunteers must be 13 years of age or older to participate in this opportunity; any volunteer under age 18 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.
