Join the fight against food insecurity for seniors and low-income neighbors in Portland! This internship position supports the various functions and operations of CfPA’s diverse food program, which distributes 7,500 – 10,000 pounds of food each month.

LOCATION:
This position is based out of the Hollywood Senior Center (1820 NE 40th Ave) though many activities occur at various resident buildings CfPA supports.

DUTIES &

ACTIVITIES:
  • Assist the Community Food Manager to plan for, organize, and execute over 10 food pantries each month.
  • Work with volunteers to receive and organize weekly food donations from various local stores.
  • Transport and distribute food to low‑income resident buildings around Portland, creating relationships with residents.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ideal for students studying nutrition science, health promotion, non‑profit management, or other related fields.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, engage in repetitive movements (e.g. bending, standing for long periods, etc.)
  • Must complete OFB training and observe safe food handling protocols.
  • Preferred qualification (though not mandatory):
    Current driver’s license and personal vehicle.
  • Commitment to the Community for Positive Aging’s mission and values, including promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion.
TIME COMMITMENT:

The selected intern’s schedule will vary based on the existing food pantry and delivery schedule. It is not a “regular” schedule, though the majority of food‑related activities occur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 10am – 3pm. Internships can take place over one semester, summer, or a full academic year.

This internship position is unpaid.
