Community Philanthropy Manager - Prospect Research & Management

Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Community Philanthropy Manager – Prospect Research & Management on behalf of Oregon Food Bank (OFB). This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid opportunity based in Oregon or Southwest Washington. The position reports to the Community Philanthropy Associate Director – Operations and supervises three Prospect Research & Management Developers as well as vendors and consultants.

The Opportunity

The Community Philanthropy Manager – Prospect Research & Management leads OFB’s Prospect Research & Management Team and guides the design and implementation of prospect research and management programs that support relationship development and resource mobilization goals.

This position supervises three Prospect Research & Management Developers and vendors/consultants while overseeing complex reporting, data analysis, donor research, portfolio management, prospect strategy, and related systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement prospect research and management programs aligned with Community Philanthropy’s strategic priorities, annual goals, and revenue objectives.
• Lead and develop the Prospect Research & Management Team, including coaching, supervision, work planning, training, and oversight of consultants and vendors.
• Oversee prospect development functions, including donor and prospect research, relationship management systems, portfolio management, list pulls, data analytics, and moves management.
• Design and maintain systems for top-prospect relationship management, proposals, gift tracking, progress-to-goal reporting, and prospect strategy.
• Develop proactive strategies to identify major gift prospects of $10,000+ and conduct high-level research on individuals, corporations, and foundations.
• Lead prospect and donor strategy meetings while partnering across Community Philanthropy to strengthen relationship development, annual revenue planning, and achievement of fundraising goals.
• Support effective use of donor databases and related systems, including RENXT integrations, data standards, reporting, and training.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in prospect research and management, moves management, sales operations, and/or related fields

• 3+ years of experience leading, coaching, training, and inspiring teams
  , which may include professional staff, interns, vendors/consultants, volunteers, or peer project teams.
• Demonstrated ability to develop proactive prospecting methodologies
  , including data mining and sophisticated constituent database queries.
• Experience developing long-term plans, establishing objectives, and tracking progress toward goals.
• Knowledge of Moves Management, Community-Centric Fundraising principles, APRA’s Body of Knowledge and Ethics Statement, and/or other philanthropic development methodologies.
• Strong proficiency with relational databases, spreadsheets, donor databases such as Raiser’s Edge, and tools such as GSuite, Microsoft Office, iWave, Lexis Nexis, or similar prospecting platforms.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, project management, and collaborative leadership skills.
