Job Summary
Position:
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) within Integrated Clinical Services at Multnomah County Health Department. Pay Range: $5,708.73 - $7,301.68 semimonthly. Department:
Health Department. Job Type: Regular. Represented Exemption Status:
Exempt (United States of America).
- Direct Clinical Care:
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic mental health conditions across lifespan, conduct medical history and mental status exams, prescribe and monitor treatments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, devise and discuss treatment plans, provide counseling, reassess patients at appropriate intervals, maintain high‑quality notes and treatment recommendations, collaborate with interdisciplinary team. - Indirect Clinical Care:
Seek consultation from clinicians as needed for practice management; provide consultation to providers, nurses, and support staff; prioritize and direct care team activities; coordinate with primary care providers, behavioral health, pharmacy, and dental providers; provide coverage for clinical colleagues; complete documentation and manage electronic inbox; follow up on utilization issues, including specialty referrals and consultations; participate in team, professional, and health center‑wide meetings;
participate in continuing education to maintain licensure and evidence‑based practice.
- Master’s degree or equivalent in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Certificate.
- License to practice as a Registered Nurse in Oregon.
- CPR/BLS certification.
- DEA certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric medicine principles, practices, and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and treat a variety of diseases.
- Experience with culturally competent, customer‑service orientation in screening.
- Ability to motivate clients through discussion and persuasion.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships, manage multiple priorities, and remain composed with hostile or verbally abusive clients.
