American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital in Oregon, requiring at least 1 year of medical oncology experience and an active OR RN license.
Requirements- Active Oregon (OR) RN license required; pending license accepted if application has been submitted and received by the licensing board to qualify for the 90-day license exemption
- Minimum 1 year of medical oncology nursing experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Proof of COVID vaccination required; no exemptions accepted
- Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (Charge RN references are not acceptable)
- Short-term acute care hospital setting within a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching facility
- Medical Surgical Oncology unit caring for patients with GI cancers (pancreatic, colon, liver, esophageal), gynecological, thyroid, ENT, and thoracic cancers, sarcoma, leukemia/lymphoma, and end-of-life patients
- Patient ratios of 1:1-4 depending on acuity
- Specialized procedures include Whipple, liver resection, hepatic arterial infusion pump, esophagectomy, VATS, laryngectomy, TORS, TAH/BSO, colectomy, pain management, and chemotherapy administration
- Equipment used includes chest tubes, trachs, epidurals, PCA, feeding tubes, JP/Blake drains, suction, central lines (ports, hepatic pump, PICC, Groshong), ostomy, and wound vac
- Charting system:
Epic (experience preferred) - Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- 4 weekend shifts per month required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within scope to Acute Care/IMC units; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius restriction applies
- Former employees or previous travelers at this facility must have been gone at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
- RTO is capped at 5 days for a 13-week contract or 7 days for an 18-week contract; any approved time off exceeding 5 days must be added to the end of the contract to ensure a full 13-week assignment
- All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of consideration and may not exceed 2 consecutive weeks
- Solid-color scrubs required - no printed patterns; scrubs are provided
- Daily parking is available for a fee; public transportation is strongly encouraged
