The Multnomah County Health Department is committed to health equity, compassion, and empowerment. This role is part of Integrated Clinical Services, delivering integrated health services to communities with barriers to care.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic mental health conditions, conduct histories, mental status exams, and prescribe treatments.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, devise treatment courses, discuss alternatives, monitor medications, provide counseling, and reassess at intervals.
- Provide patient education on disease treatment, nutrition, exercise, and health maintenance.
- Maintain high-quality documentation and treatment plans as part of a team-based approach.
- Seek clinical consultation as needed and provide consultation to other providers, prioritizing team activities.
- Coordinate with primary care, behavioral health, pharmacy, dental, and other providers to integrate care.
- Cover clinical colleagues in absence, complete documentation, and manage the electronic inbox.
- Follow up on utilization issues, referrals, and consultations; participate in meetings and continuing education.
- Master's degree or equivalent in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Certificate.
- License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon.
- CPR/BLS certification.
- DEA certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric medicine principles and practices.
- Knowledge of diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases.
- Effective screening and gathering information in a culturally competent manner.
- Motivating clients through discussion and persuasion.
- Clear oral and written communication.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships.
- Flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to maintain composure with hostile or verbally abusive clients.
