Department Overview
The Assistant Nurse Manager is a registered nurse who provides operational leadership under the direction of the Nurse Manager to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered nursing care. The Assistant Nurse Manager supports staff development, oversees daily operations, and contributes to quality, financial, and human resource management activities. This role promotes a professional practice environment that fosters excellence in patient care and staff engagement.
Function/Dutiesof Position
The Assistant Nurse Manager is distinguished from the Nurse Manager by providing operational leadership and supervisory support on a shift or unit basis, rather than holding primary accountability for long-term strategic, fiscal, and administrative management of the department. The Assistant Nurse Manager serves as a front-line leader who implements policies, coordinates staffing, monitors patient care quality and provides coaching and guidance to nursing staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Experience:
Two (2) years of relevant clinical nursing experience in a related specialty, including demonstrated leadership responsibilities required (e.g., charge nurse, preceptor, supervisor, or equivalent). - Licenses or
Certifications:
Unencumbered Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) license (or ability to obtain prior to hire). - Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Additional clinical certifications (e.g., ACLS, NRP) may be required by assignment.
- Leadership/specialty certification (e.g., NE‑BC, CNML, or clinical specialty) within two (2) years of hire.
