Nurse practitioner – supporting lung cancer screening program (system wide) with a team of APPs, physicians, and support staff. Responsibilities- Assess physical condition of patients by performing physical examinations, ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests, and obtaining medical histories. Assumes ongoing responsibility for each patient from discovery of the disorder to recovery.
- Formulate the medical plan and prognosis based on patient's condition.
- Consult with physician(s) regarding patient health care plans and treatment.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient’s clinical problems and health care needs.
- Perform selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence.
- Initiate and/or recommend medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols and policy.
- Comply with medical records policies regarding complete and accurate documentation of patient care; initiate and maintain required records and legal documents.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Counsel patients, families, and significant others about health and illness, and promote health maintenance.
- Establish and document the health care plan and prognosis, maintain records of each case, and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan.
- Initiate drug therapy, taking full responsibility for such therapy; consult with a physician prior to implementing the therapy, as necessary.
- Determine when the patient has recovered from the disorder and release the patient.
Education, experience, skills and licensure required to fulfill the role.
Education- As required by licensure.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience in a related field; specific requirements vary by position.
- Basic familiarity with computers preferred.
- Must have current Oregon and Washington state NP & RN license.
- National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) required.
- Current applicable state license as a Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Privileges (NP‑PP) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
USD $72.84 – USD $94.95 per hour.
