Position: Part-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Part‑Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Central City Concern – Portland, OR (Part‑time). Posted March 9.

This position is a member of a multi‑disciplinary team providing integrated, person‑centered services in the 16 x Burnside Recovery Center. The LPN supports medication management, patient care, and collaborative workflows, ensuring accuracy and safety in medication tracking, ordering, handling, and auditing.

Schedule and Location

Schedule:

Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Monday‑Friday off).

Location:

16 x Burnside Recovery Center, 1616 E. Burnside St., Portland, OR 97214.

Compensation

$31.97‑$42.42 per hour, based on experience. Compensation capped at $37.10 per hour for external workers under the union contract.

Union‑represented through American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited LPN training program.
  • Current licensure with the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
  • Must meet CCC privileging requirements as required by FTCA.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification prior to start date.
  • Compliance with a drug‑free workplace and the Drug‑Free Workplace Act of 1988.
  • Ability to read labels and distinguish colors.
  • Physical ability to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift; climb stairs with reasonable accommodation.
  • Must pass mandatory pre‑employment drug test, TB test, and background check (including DHS).
  • Preferred driving; if driving must have a valid license, vehicle, appropriate insurance ($100,000/$300,000 liability), and meet CCC fleet safety and training requirements.
  • Adherence to agency non‑discrimination policies.
  • Effective interaction with diverse coworkers and patients; treat all individuals with respect and dignity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the 16th and Burnside medical‑legal team to deliver integrated, client‑centered services.
  • Identify opportunities to improve collaboration, workflow, and logistics; participate in KPI review and continuous improvement plans.
  • Track, audit, handle, and order medications within the LPN scope.
  • Coordinate medication tracking, auditing, and ordering under guidance of a Licensed Medical Provider (LMP) and RN.
  • Evaluate response to focused plan of care interventions as directed.
  • Communicate client status and concerns with RN/LMP; seek direction when outside scope.
  • Assist medical assistants and RNs as needed: communication, referrals, stocking, client education, rooming clients.
  • Perform interventions within LPN scope of practice and receive training.
  • Maintain medication accuracy and safety: support client self‑administration, quality audits, MAR updates, bin organization, coordination with RNs/LMP, daily feedback, isolation protocol support.
  • Follow controlled medication handling protocols (e.g., methadone, disposal). Take accountability for pharmacy communication.
  • Keep mandatory records and data entry; document procedures, medications, and mandatory reporting.
  • Maintain a clean, safe clinic environment and client privacy.
  • Assist in urine drug sample observation and chain‑of‑custody procedures.
  • Submit lab results, maintain EMR documentation.
  • Respond to emergencies.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2; report breaches.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
