Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level 4 NICU RN for a 13-week teaching hospital assignment requiring BSN and 2+ years of Level 4 NICU experience.

Details
  • Work in a 46-bed Level 4 Neonatal ICU serving critically ill, convalescing and growing premature and term newborns
  • Unit receives admissions from the hospital's own high-risk perinatal department as well as transports from Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Hawaii
  • Access to specialists in endocrine, pulmonary, genetics, renal, metabolic, ophthalmology, neurology, general pediatric surgery and cardiothoracic surgery
  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Weekend rotation required
  • Floating within the hospital required; no floating to sister/affiliate hospitals
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Located at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center teaching hospital
Requirements
  • Active RN license (Oregon or Compact); pending license applications accepted if submitted to the licensing board
  • BSN required
  • Minimum 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, NRP
  • Preferred certifications: PALS, S.T.A.B.L.E.
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skills in respiratory care including Bubble CPAP, tracheostomy care/management, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
  • PA line experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Two manager/supervisor references from within the last 24 months required; charge RN references not accepted
  • Work history verification covering the last seven years, including city, state, dates of employment and PTO
  • COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions accepted
Additional Information
  • Provide family-centered nursing care to fragile neonatal patients and their families
  • Participate in the education of nursing students and pediatric residents as part of a teaching hospital environment
  • Scrubs are provided for OR use; no printed scrubs permitted
  • First-time travelers accepted with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
  • Maximum RTO of 1-2 weeks, must be submitted upfront
  • Former OHSU employees or travelers must have a 6+ month gap before returning, and require a reference from their previous OHSU manager
  • Background checks are comprehensive and lifetime in scope; any background or license issues will not be accepted
