- Perform physical examinations and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Increase donor awareness of potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health
- Counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Evaluate histories of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist in employee training
- Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocation Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT
- Current CPR certification required
- Ability to stand and sit for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movement and ability to make fast, precise, coordinated finger, hand, and wrist movements
- Frequent foot movement; ability to squat, crouch, or sit on heels on rare occasion
- Ability to lift 15 lbs., with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
- Hearing acuity essential
- Correctable near and far vision; color perception/discrimination
- Ability to communicate and understand spoken and written information
- Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform varied tasks under changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical equipment, and extreme cold
- Personal protective equipment required in plasma freezers
Demonstrates expertise in donor evaluation and management, ensuring donor suitability through physical examinations and medical history assessments. Proficient in providing education and counseling to donors while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with health standards.
