Travel RN - Med​/Surg - Neuro

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg-Neuro RN for a night shift assignment requiring NIHSS certification and prior neurological nursing experience.

• Active RN license (Compact license must be in hand at submission)
• OR RN license required
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skills required in isolation precautions/PPE, non-invasive airway management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, and rapid response/code team participation
• Must provide response regarding any prior employment history with a Providence facility (permanent, travel, registry/per-diem)
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Must have a vehicle for this assignment

• Work in the Medical Surgical - Neuro unit of a short-term acute care teaching hospital
• Care for neurological and psychiatric patients including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, substance withdrawal, and traumatic brain injury cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• On-call required, including remaining on call if cancelled from a shift
• Floating to other units and sister facilities required based on skill set
• Epic EMR used for charting
• Provide nursing care to neurological and medical-surgical patients including monitoring, treatment, and emergency response as needed
• Scrub color is open for general units; OR/Cath Lab scrubs are facility-provided
• No parking fees at this facility
• Floating to sister facilities within the region may occur, including additional incentive pay and travel accommodations for certain locations
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Local radius requirement of 50 miles
• Former Providence permanent staff may return as travelers only after a 3-month waiting period and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
