Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN with ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy certification for a day-shift Med/Surg Oncology position requiring at least one year of relevant experience.

Details
  • Short term acute care hospital setting on the Oncology Chemo Certified unit
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Every other weekend required
  • Block schedule required
  • Floating to other units and sister facilities based on skill set may be required
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • No on-call requirements
Requirements
  • Active RN license (Compact must be in hand at time of submission)
  • OR RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • ONS/ONCC chemotherapy/biotherapy certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required
  • Experience with Autologous Stem Cell Transplant and CAR-T therapy patients preferred
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration including IV, oral, and continuous infusion methods
  • Experience monitoring for oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
  • Experience with central line and port care and management
  • Experience with symptom management including nausea, neuropathy, edema, and altered mental status
  • Must have a vehicle for this assignment
Additional Information
  • Provide direct oncology nursing care including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
  • Manage care for patients with implanted ports and central lines
  • Monitor and respond to oncologic emergencies and treatment-related complications
  • Support patients with neutropenic precautions and symptom management needs
  • Any color scrubs accepted
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • No previous employment history issues with Providence facilities related to background checks (Nursys or background check hits not accepted)
  • Two supervisory references required, covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
