Position: Surgery Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT) - Appointment-based Surgery

Dove Lewis Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital is seeking full-time Credentialed Veterinary Technicians (CVT/LVT/RVT) to join our new Appointment-Based Surgery team.

. These positions share similar credential requirements (CVT/LVT/RVT), and qualified applicants may be considered for other technician openings based on experience, interest, and hospital needs.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician
, you’ll guide the preparation and flow of elective surgical cases to support efficient, accurate, and high-quality patient care in partnership with the attending surgeon. You’ll provide advanced nursing care before, during, and after surgery in compliance with the attending veterinarian’s directives and the Oregon Veterinary Practice Act.

You’ll also serve as a key liaison among surgeons, staff, and clients to ensure clear communication and a well-coordinated surgical experience, and you’ll help guide and educate Veterinary Assistants supporting the team.

Wage
  • $28-$36 hourly for Certified Veterinary Technicians (or other license type that is transferable to Oregon)
  • $38-$44 hourly for Veterinary Technician Specialists (VTS)
  • This position qualifies for 10-15% weekend differential pay and 12% overnight differential pay for applicable shifts.
What you’ll do
  • Prepare patients and support the flow of appointment-based elective surgical cases
  • Provide surgical and anesthesia nursing support before, during, and after procedures
  • Administer medications and calculate dosages accurately
  • Place and manage catheters/tubes, monitor vitals, and ensure patient comfort
  • Coordinate with surgeons, assistants, and client-facing team members for a smooth experience
  • Help guide and train Veterinary Assistants working with the team

What We’re Looking For

Requirements

  • Current status as a Certified Veterinary Technician in Oregon OR credentialed elsewhere (LVT/RVT/credentialed veterinary nurse/technician) with ability to transfer to Oregon
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

Preferred

  • Related experience in elective surgery and/or orthopedic procedures
  • Ideal candidates bring:
    • Strong surgical/anesthesia nursing fundamentals and attention to detail
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with compassion, efficiency, and flexibility
  • Clear communication skills and a client-centered mindset
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach and interest in continuing to grow technically
