The Role
The Site Safety Coordinator supports Cochran's commitment to a safe, healthy workplace by partnering with field and office teams to promote safe work practices, meet company and regulatory requirements, and improve safety performance. This role works closely with project managers, foremen, superintendents, and employees to identify hazards, deliver coaching, support training, and help integrate safety into daily project execution.
This is a hands-on, safety role with the opportunity to build expertise in electrical construction safety, learn from senior safety leaders, support complex electrical and technology construction projects ranging from commercial buildings and healthcare facilities to manufacturing and mission-critical environments. The Safety Coordinator will also participate in incident investigations, strengthen coaching and communication skills, and prepare for future growth into safety leadership roles.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct site inspections and safety observations, identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and coach employees and supervisors on safe work practices.
- Support pre-task planning, JHAs, project startup activities, high-risk work planning, emergency preparedness, PPE use, and core safety programs including LOTO, electrical safe work practices, fall protection, and confined space.
- Conduct new hire safety orientation, coordinate required OSHA, NFPA 70E, and Cochran training, maintain training records, and mentor employees on hazard recognition and risk assessment.
- Respond to incidents, near misses, and property damage events; assist with investigations, root cause analysis, reports, corrective action plans, injury management, and return-to-work support.
- Assist with OSHA compliance, customer and internal audits, required safety documentation, regulatory updates, equipment inspections, safety metrics, safety committee support, and monthly safety reporting.
