Job Summary:

The Food Safety Coordinator (FSC) provides administrative food safety program support for Grand Central Bakery. Working under the direction of the QAFS Manager, the Coordinator provides technical support for Grand Central Bakery facilities through maintenance of the food safety plan. The FSC should have integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. The FSC works on-site at an assigned facility to review food safety paperwork, participate in inspections, and conduct site audits.

The FSC works cross departmentally guiding peers towards better food safety practices and develops strong working relationships with key stakeholders.

Compensation: $30.29/hour (non‑exempt).

Supervision:
This position reports to the Quality Assurance and Food Safety Manager.

Schedule Requirements:
Full-time, 4-5 days a week, hours to be determined. Grand Central Bakery operates 7 days a week / 365 days a year. Schedule flexibility is essential including the ability to work extra hours or days based on department needs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Regularly inspect assigned facility with an eye for food safety program compliance.
  • Assemble, organize, and review daily food safety paperwork. Follow-up on paperwork gaps and work with department stakeholders to complete paperwork and increase compliance.
  • Request documentation, including Certificates of Analysis, verification of ingredients, checking and documenting ingredient lots and condition from vendors and suppliers.
  • Verify, document, and maintain records of equipment calibration.
  • Support location response for food safety incidents. Inspect the facility for food safety hazards, track potentially affected product, documenting and recording incidents.
  • As directed by the QAFS Manager, update program documents to maintain compliance with government regulations, customer specifications, and 3rd party certification requirements.
  • Conduct a monthly facility self‑audit and complete documentation, noting points of improvement. Create and present reports based on findings with corrective action recommendations. Track completion of corrective actions.
  • Support facility managers during third party audits. Navigate food safety documentation and answer food safety related questions during the audits.
  • Conduct trainings on food safety programs including Good Manufacturing Principles (GMP’s), how to complete documentation, and compliance. Schedule and track training.
  • Conduct environmental sampling using aseptic technique on a regular schedule and send samples to an external laboratory for processing. Record test results to be used for trend analysis.
  • Investigate and document potential food safety incidents as informed by customer complaints. Document findings and manage records.
