A growing food and beverage manufacturer is seeking a Senior Quality Specialist to join their team. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with global food regulations while supporting innovation and new product development. The position provides regulatory guidance from concept through commercialization and plays a key role in maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with U.S. and international food regulations, including FDA, USDA, CFIA, EFSA, Codex, and other relevant authorities.
- Oversee compliance processes related to customer requirements and certifications.
- Manage and respond to customer requests regarding export documentation, product formulations, recipes, and technical inquiries.
- Prepare and maintain regulatory documents such as questionnaires, specification sheets, and product data.
- Maintain accurate ingredient and finished product specifications across internal systems.
- Manage customer documentation portals and ensure up‑to‑date, accurate information.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, R&D, Quality Assurance, Packaging, and Operations teams to support compliant product launches.
- Provide regulatory guidance throughout the development process to ensure timely and compliant execution.
- Represent the regulatory function in internal meetings and cross‑functional discussions.
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Provide mentorship and support to junior regulatory staff.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on food labeling and regulatory requirements.
- Lead initiatives to enhance regulatory processes, documentation accuracy, and overall compliance systems.
- Influence decision‑making by offering strategic, risk‑based regulatory guidance.
Qualifications
Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Food Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in regulatory affairs and/or quality roles within the food or beverage industry.
- Highly detail‑oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Strong critical thinking and ability to interpret complex regulatory information.
- Proactive, self‑directed, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities while maintaining accuracy.
